Please note that fourteen federal departments and agencies are signatories to the SPI and five priority resource sectors are identified - agriculture, fisheries, forestry, mining and energy.

The Strategic Partnerships Initiative will increase economic development opportunities for Aboriginal entrepreneurs and communities by promoting partnerships between federal and non-federal partners in priority sectors of the economy, including forestry, fisheries, mining, energy and agriculture.

Update - SPI-AAI

ABSN would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone for the co-operation that was received with regard to the SPI-AAI Initiative.

ABSN was able to send the Letter of Intent Cover Letter; Letter of Intent Guidelines and the program Terms and Conditions to all the Directors of ABSN, REACH Sites, Bands, Tribal Councils, Friendship Centres and Aboriginal Organizations and Businesses that were on the ABSN contact list.

The deadline for the LOI's was on July 29th and on August 2, 2011 the Letters of Intent and a report was sent along with the LOI's to the BC Regional Implementation Team. There were 78 LOI's received for a total overall project costs of $84,428,092 with $56,374,448 being requested from the program.

After the SPI-AAI applicant contacts were entered into my Outlook Express an email was sent to each applicant advising that their Letter of Intent was sent to the:
