Mission Statement

The BC ABSN is a collective of Aboriginal business service providers in British Columbia who enhance access to business information and resources.

Background

ABSN is an initiative of the Federal Government Aboriginal Business Development Strategy. In 2002, the Community Economic Development Centre and Simon Fraser University completed a Gap Analysis on Aboriginal business needs and service providers. As a result of the study an ABSN coordinator was hired, REACH Sites were developed throughout the Province, a workbook was published on Aboriginal Business Development and a variety of other tools - intended as capacity development tools for Aboriginal Business Development Officers.

ABSN developed its own website (www.absn.ca) which includes sections on publications, business plans, REACH Sites and Resources Links The majority of the Resource Links are links to websites that may help an Entrepreneur find what they need for their business idea or business. It also includes links to Aboriginal Business Directories and Aboriginal Business Websites.

The BC ABSN is administered by the Community Futures Development Corporation of Central Interior First Nations in Kamloops, BC and supported by Western Economic Diversification.
